Why the name changed
Fret Trainer started as one thing: a drill for learning the notes on the fretboard. That is still in here, and it is still free. But the app outgrew the name. It now covers chords, scales, triads, intervals, ear training and sight reading across nine instruments in any tuning, so a name built around fret drilling described a fraction of what it does.
Fretonomy is the same app under new branding. Nothing was discontinued and nothing was replaced.
What this means for you
If you already have the app installed, it updated in place. Your progress, your settings and your subscription carried across untouched - there is nothing to migrate and nothing to buy again.
The App Store and Google Play listings are the same listings they always were, which is why their links still carry the old name. Downloading from either gets you the current version.
